The last match of the night saw the England team take on Andorra in front of a vocal home crowd. Spectators were treated to a tense game with both teams leading at stages, but England led 4-3 in the closing stages of the game and when Conroy chipped the ball across for Carter to volley into the net with two minutes to go the crowd
erupted and cheered the boys home to their first victory.

Roller Hockey has been around for well over 100 years, several variations have been developed over the last century and the one that started it all is still going. In the early days this fast and exciting sport was known as Rink Hockey and the National Roller Hockey Association founded in 1904 developed the sport and is still the National Governing Body for the sport today. Looking through the archives Northampton had at least three roller skating rinks, one in the George Hotel, the Empire Roller Skating Rink in Abingdon Road and the Castle roller skating rink. Northampton had a Roller Hockey club 100 years ago in 1910 and they competed in the Southern Counties Rink Hockey Challenge Cup of 1910. They won both of their 1st and 2nd round matches but were knocked out in the Semi Final by Crystal Palace Engineers losing 2 -0.
